The Big Kahuna Street Food Blog

10 years in the street food business and still loving every minute. We have watched the street food revolution creep up and explode all over the UK. I remember everyone saying it’s just a fad, a phase. Well no chance its never going to go, street food is here to stay!

I started this business as a market stall, massive stainless steel front counter cooking strip rib eye steak and chicken marinated in different sauces in rolls or wraps, grilled onions & peppers. The customer would pick there meat , sauce, veg and it would be straight on the plate sizzling away. It had real theatre, a rawness about it. At the time I felt up against the big fairground trailers doing the flat burgers on a frozen bun, standard white trailer catering. When I realised that I had a bigger que than them at my little stall I realised I had something. I also realised that I was doing something that I loved. There is no better feeling than setting your stall up and selling your food, and customers coming all the way back to tell you how good it was!

Street food isn’t just about the ┬álifestyle of the ‘street food trader’ its also the people who like to travel to, watch and eat the good food thats been cooked for them, sitting enjoying the buzz, the vibe and soak up the atmosphere of what a street food scene creates and brings to a place/event.
